Tell Rachel Contracting: Drop the Roof Depot Contract!

Over the protest and cries of residents the City of Minneapolis hired Rachel Contracting LLC FOR $1.6 Million Dollars to completely demolish the Roof Depot building in East Phillips.

Doing the bidding of the City and Jacob Frey, Rachel Contracting will begin to bulldoze over and destroy the longtime community plan that has been in place for the neighborhood site for almost a decade for an Indoor Urban Farm. Demolition will disturb the soil beneath the building that is known to be full of Arsenic from a toxic spill and an urban pollution superfund site.

Instead of supporting the community vision, Rachel Contracting is helping the City impose and expand their maintenance vehicle parking lot for diesel vehicles in an already overburdened and polluted neighborhood ignoring and belittling the cries and demands of residents to STOP THE WORK IMMEDIATELY. Rachel Contracting must STOP DEMOLITION and DROP THE ROOF DEPOT CONTRACT with the City of Minneapolis.

The point of Civil Disobedience is to purposefully do things that morality condoned and are within our values, but may be outside of the law.  Think MLK, United Farmworkers, Wildcat Labor Strikes, sit ins, American Indian Movement occupation of Alcatraz, etc.  There's a long tradition of deliberately breaking unjust laws being a powerful motivator for change.
